I've got an Eclectus (native to Australia and Solomon Isles to keep thread on topic ish) and they are notorious for not being very animated.

:-(

You probably already know, then, that apart from humans, birds of the parrot family are thought to be the only animals that have an internal sense of rhythm, and will dance to music.

There are videos on YouTube of people's parrots, cockatoos, etc, getting down with their bad selves. And like humans, they all have their own individual moves. My favourite on there is a sulphur headed cockatoo dancing to some fucking awful noise (couldn't tell you what music genre it is) and he's taking on like Keith Flynt. Really going for it.

My sister had a cockatiel that wigged out to 'Body and Soul' by Mai Tai.

Last time I went I flew with Malaysian on the A380. Time before Singapore on the A380. Singapore was loads more better in my opinion.

Re: Flying to Australia
No, my first parrot danced to Magic Moments but the one I have now has no musicality.

He can say Come on You Irons and talks really well but I tried teaching him Bubbles with no success at all

Chesty - does your parrot dance to music?

Re: Flying to Australia
If you are travelling with those who are physically less able I doubt you would be allowed to book the seats with the leg room near the exits. The last thing they need in an emergency evacuation is a couple of old biddys blocking up an escape route

I also recommend talking to Trailfinders, been to Oz a few times with Qantas and latterly Singapore. Had stop overs each time in Singapore as I love the place.

Flew to sydney just after xmas 2006..
Used japanese airlines... 12 hours ish to japan, then 12 odd down to sydney.... got a free stop over in hotel on way back for the night in japan too(too far from tokyo tho to really appeiciate it) but as its the same ish time difference i never really noticed any jet lag..

Re: Flying to Australia
Breaking the trip is probably the best advice - if you can do it in 3 legs with an overnight in each of the 2 intermediates (say DXB & SIN), it will probably go some way to minimising jet-lag at either end.

European/western airlines are more miss than hit at the moment. I'd have no concerns about Emirates or Etihad, or Singapore, Cathay Pacific and Thai, but Thai are a bit more pricey.

Check the code-share options carefully when you book, too - you could end up on an aircraft of one of the airlines you were trying to avoid.

Re: Flying to Australia
I flew to Perth with Cathay Pacific last September via Hon Kong.
As it was a special trip I surprised Mrs VH with Business class. We got a really good deal through Trailfinders.

I am going again this September but the finances will only stretch to economy with Singapore, although, I have paid a bit extra for seat by the door so it gives me the extra leg room.

Whichever airline you fly with and whatever class of seat it's a bloody long way.

Have a look at Malaysian, they had some good deals going when I was booking this time.

Cheers Joe. Already been mentioned in dispatches to Mrs shorty about going late 2018. early 2019. Love a bit of western oz. As for BA. They make our 2bob owners look capable running a professional outfit. Rather take my chances with Buddy Holly Airways than fly with them cunts.

I think Hong Kong is actually the shortest route. Good place too.

Bangkok is awesome :) But yes, a shithole for a pair of old ladies who probably aren't very adventurous.

why&eng, I try to fly virgin looking haul but they don't go to Australia anymore. Haven't used the middle East ones but have heard good things.
Lee, flown to Australia twice with them, Miami, Orlando and New York and I've found them decent. New York and Orlando is with past year so pretty recent.

Re: Flying to Australia
It's much better breaking the trip up if you've go the time. If I was doing it, I'd break them up and spend a day in Dubai and Singapore. Bangkok is a shithole and a bit out of the way anyway. Hong Kong is even more out of the way.

Cheezey Bell-End 6:32 Tue May 16
Re: Flying to Australia
For at least part of the route, one of the budget accounts might be worth looking at like Jetstar, Scoot, Air Asia X etc, as they have premium classes that are similar to premium economy. Just make sure they fly into the right airport as Avalon is a long way out if you aren't going to that side of Melbourne.
